An Ethernet cable carries data in packets, and built-in error correction means a damaged bit gets resent rather than heard as distortion. What still varies between cables is shielding against outside noise and how reliably the connection holds up over a longer run.
AudioQuest's Vodka RJ/E is the top of the Ethernet range we carry, built with solid 10% silver conductors and, unique to this tier, a noise-dissipation system AudioQuest says helps minimize RF and EMI noise.
AudioQuest says solid conductors help eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter, and that Vodka's 10% silver-plated copper reduces signal distortion, the highest silver content anywhere in AudioQuest's current Ethernet cable range.
Vodka is the only AudioQuest Ethernet tier whose feature list names a noise-dissipation system explicitly aimed at RF and EMI noise, on top of RJ45 connectors AudioQuest says provide efficient shield coverage with extra-strong tabs for durability.
Vodka ends in a standard RJ45 plug on each end, built with efficient shield coverage and the same reinforced connector tabs AudioQuest uses on Forest, for durability over repeated use.
Plug one end into an RJ45 port on your router, switch or network device, and the other end into the RJ45 port on your streamer, music server or networked DAC. Either end can go to either device.
Then power up the system as usual. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
An Ethernet cable is one link between your network and a source component. It usually joins these categories.
AudioQuest says it helps minimize radio-frequency and electromagnetic interference reaching the data conductors. Vodka is the only tier in AudioQuest's Ethernet range whose own feature list names this system explicitly.
AudioQuest does not publish a Gbps figure for Vodka the way it does for Forest. The tier's emphasis is conductor purity and noise dissipation rather than a stated bandwidth ceiling.
This is true of any Ethernet cable: network data travels in packets with built-in error correction, so a flawed connection causes a retransmission, not corrupted audio. What a premium cable changes is shielding against outside noise and connection reliability, not data integrity.
A wired connection is generally more stable than Wi-Fi, with no dropouts from interference or distance. If your source component has an Ethernet port, running a cable to it removes Wi-Fi from the equation entirely, whether or not you upgrade beyond the cable that came in the box.
Not in the AudioQuest Ethernet range we carry. Vodka is the top of that range. If you want to go further, call us and we will talk through the whole chain.
