A power cable carries the last few feet of AC from the wall into a component. It can't add power a component doesn't draw, but a poorly shielded one lets noise ride in on that current.
Pangea's AC-9SE MKII is, in the company's own words, actually a seven-gauge cable, combining Cardas Grade One Copper, OFC copper and Litz wire in a Seven-Way Multi-gauge Geometry. Pangea recommends it for amplifiers, powered subwoofers and power conditioners.
Pangea describes AC-9SE MKII as actually a seven-gauge cable: Cardas Grade One Copper, OFC copper and Litz wire combined in what the company calls a Seven-Way Multi-gauge Geometry, with counter-spiraled conductor construction carried over from the rest of the Pangea line.
George Cardas, the designer behind Cardas Audio's own conductors, said of the Cardas Grade One Copper used in this cable: “the most amazing audio conductor I have ever experienced. It is quite simply the best copper on the planet.”
AC-9SE MKII is triple-shielded against RF and EM interference and terminates in Pangea's DeathGrip IEC connector, the company's locking, low-resistance IEC termination. Pangea recommends the cable specifically for amplifiers, powered subwoofers and power conditioners, the heavier-draw end of a system.
AC-9SE MKII terminates in a DeathGrip IEC connector, which plugs into the inlet on your amplifier, powered subwoofer or power conditioner, and a standard NEMA 5-15 three-prong plug for the US wall outlet at the wall end.
Plug the DeathGrip IEC end into the inlet on the back of your amplifier, powered subwoofer or power conditioner, and the male end into a wall outlet or power conditioner outlet.
Then power up the system as usual. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
A power cable is one link in the chain from the wall to your gear. It usually joins these categories.
Yes, but Pangea built AC-9SE MKII's seven-gauge geometry for amplifiers, powered subwoofers and power conditioners specifically. A lighter source component will not draw enough current to use that headroom, so AC-14 or AC-14SE MKII C7 is the better match for a DAC or streamer.
Pangea builds its power cables to keep radio-frequency and electromagnetic noise from riding in on the AC line and reaching sensitive circuits. A ground wire without that shielding can act like an antenna, pulling in exactly the noise a power cable is supposed to keep out.
Every metal conductor oxidizes over time; it is unavoidable chemistry, not a defect. What varies is the rate. Denser, better-shielded conductors with quality plating oxidize far more slowly, so a well-made cable performs the same way for years instead of drifting.
No change to your safety ground. Every cable in this line keeps the full three-conductor path, hot, neutral and ground, exactly as building code requires. What differs from a stock cord is conductor quality and shielding, not the wiring topology.
Cardas Clear is the upgrade path we recommend from AC-9SE MKII. Cardas describes it as born from its Golden Reference Power line, with additional filtering that increases dynamics.
