The Onkyo Muse Y-50 is a compact streaming integrated amplifier. It adds an HDMI input, a subwoofer output, an MM/MC phono stage and Onkyo Room EQ to a chassis 13.8 inches wide.
Onkyo rates it at 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 250 watts into 4 ohms. It comes in Black or Silver.
An Axign Class D amplifier with MOSFET outputs drives your speakers. The circuit is temperature-controlled, so no cooling fan is needed.
An aluminum front panel adds rigidity, and the top plate carries a San Kuzushi pattern inspired by Japanese tradition.
An HDMI input accepts a game console, Blu-ray player or set-top box, with support for 4K/120p, 8K/60p, VRR and ALLM. The HDMI output connects to your TV and supports ARC.
Onkyo Room EQ measures your listening room and applies correction to suit it. A subwoofer output has an adjustable crossover from 20 to 200 Hz, plus level control.
It drives speakers rated from 4 to 16 ohms. Three RCA inputs and a switchable MM/MC phono input cover analog sources, and the HDMI input and ARC output handle your TV and video gear.
Coaxial and optical inputs accept digital sources, and a front USB port plays music files from a storage drive. It streams over Wi-Fi or Ethernet with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.
A 5.46-inch color display shows the track playing and VU-meter screens. Four MY INPUT presets each store an input, sound settings and a network service.
What it will not do: it is a two-channel stereo amplifier, not a surround receiver. It has one HDMI input and no balanced XLR inputs.
The Y-50 comes in Black or Silver.
Build a 2.1 system around the Y-50:
