The Onkyo C-30 is a single-disc CD player from Onkyo's Icon Series. It plays CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs, plus MP3 and WMA files.
It has RCA analog outputs, optical and coaxial digital outputs, and a front headphone jack. It comes in Black or Silver.
Onkyo's Vector Linear Shaping Circuit (VLSC) removes pulse noise from the signal path. Onkyo designed it to give a clean analog output with low distortion.
A ±10 PPM clock keeps digital timing accurate. Onkyo says this helps give a focused, stable stereo image.
The aluminum front panel is designed to resist vibration and reduce resonance. Its sandblasted finish keeps the texture of the metal while cutting down on gloss.
Connect the RCA outputs to any amplifier or receiver with an analog input. Or use the optical or coaxial output to send the digital signal to an outboard DAC or a digital input on your amplifier.
The digital outputs carry a 16-bit/44.1 kHz PCM signal, the native resolution of CD. The headphone jack has its own level knob, so you can listen without an amplifier.
What it will not do: it has no digital inputs, so it cannot work as a standalone DAC. It has no balanced XLR outputs or USB port, and it does not play SACD or DVD. The power cord is permanently attached.
Jeff Wheaton, Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity (May 2026): "The Onkyo C-30 CD player from their Icon Series is a successful design, reminding me how good physical media still sounds."
He added: "I have not heard a better CD player at or near this price."
