A 3.5mm-to-RCA interconnect lets a source built around a small headphone-style jack — a phone, portable player, or compact streamer — feed a stereo system's RCA inputs directly, with no separate adapter in the signal path. What separates a premium cable from a bargain one is conductor quality and shielding against outside noise.
AudioQuest's Angel is built around Perfect-Surface Silver conductors, FEP Air-Tube insulation, three-layer Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation, a Silver/Black Braid jacket, and a 72v Dielectric-Bias System (72v DBS) with an RF Trap borrowed from AudioQuest's Niagara power products. Angel is the top model in AudioQuest's Bridges & Falls series, above Yosemite, and this 3.5mm-to-RCA version carries the same construction.
AudioQuest calls Perfect-Surface Silver its highest-quality metal, saying it minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries and maximizes linear RF Noise-Dissipation. Angel terminates in cold-welded, direct-silver-plated pure red copper connections, with no underlying nickel layer.
Three alternating layers of metal and carbon-loaded synthetics 'shield the shield,' AudioQuest says, absorbing and reflecting most RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to ground, wrapped in FEP Air-Tube insulation that keeps almost no contact between metal and dielectric.
AudioQuest's 72-volt Dielectric-Bias System saturates and polarizes the insulation, the company says, allowing clear, dynamic sound against a quiet 'black' background. An RF Trap, developed for AudioQuest's Niagara power products, keeps the 72v DBS field elements themselves from inducing radio-frequency noise into the signal conductors.
Angel ends in a 3.5mm mini plug on the source side and a stereo pair of RCA plugs on the amplifier side, cold-welded and direct-silver-plated with no underlying nickel layer. The jacket is a Silver/Black Braid.
Plug the 3.5mm end into your source's headphone or line-out jack, and the two RCA plugs into the matching RCA inputs on your amplifier or receiver, matching red to red and white/black to white/black.
Then power up the system as usual. Other and longer lengths available. Call for prices.
A 3.5mm-to-RCA interconnect is one link between a source and an amplifier or receiver. It usually joins these categories.
Many portable players, phones, and compact streaming devices only offer a single 3.5mm headphone-style output, while most home amplifiers and receivers expect a stereo pair of RCA inputs; this cable bridges that one mismatch without an extra adapter.
AudioQuest controls the directional grain structure of its conductors so induced noise drains away from the circuits it would otherwise disturb; where AudioQuest marks a direction on the cable, connect it running from source toward amplifier as marked.
AudioQuest says it saturates and polarizes the cable's insulation, allowing clear, dynamic sound against a quiet background, with an RF Trap borrowed from its Niagara power products to keep the bias system itself from inducing noise into the signal.
Unbalanced. This is a single-ended connection on both ends, not a balanced connection.
Angel is AudioQuest's top model in the Bridges & Falls series, above Yosemite, so there is no step up in the 3.5mm-to-RCA range we carry. If you want to go further, call us and we will talk through the whole chain.
